Do you race for fun, health or competition? Why?
I race for all 3… I originally got back into running to get back into shape, fell in love with triathlons, and really enjoy competing with others
What personal goals have you reached already?
Completing a full Ironman.
What personal goals do you have for the future?
Honestly just to continue doing the best I can while staying as healthy as possible.
What was your first race?
Lake Murray Triathlon 2015… I had never swam further than it took to get back on the boat at the lake and had road the bike I used about 1 mile to understand the gearing. After that, hooked!
How long have you been interested in triathlon/running/fitness?
I got into sports at an early age and it just continued through college and into life after. Started out playing pee wee footall/baseball, got to high school and went into cross country/wrestling/soccer, moved onto rugby in college which continued 6ish years after for a mens league, then just running, and now triathlons!
Do you enjoy training or competing most?
As long as I get my mind right during training and don’t focus so much on the time/distance, I truly enjoy training and having the ability to do what we do. But, at the same time, there is nothing like the feeling of race day and lining up against the competition.
What is your favorite part of training?
It’s my time. Most of my training is alone, and while I do enjoy company from time to time, being alone gives me time to myself to think, plan, wonder.
What drives you to compete?
I am the type of person that needs a goal. It could be one race a year but having that goal keeps me going.
